Our Values

Slow Work. Lasting Rooms.

"We began in a single room on Via Manzoni. One commission. One drawing table. That commission became Villa Serenoa — and Villa Serenoa became the studio's voice."

Atelier Milan — Via Manzoni — 2025

We do not rush. We measure. We revise. A room earns its quietness through decisions made slowly — the angle of a window, the grain direction of a floorboard, the temperature of a lampshade at dusk.

None of that can be hurried. Each commission begins with weeks of listening before a single line is drawn.

In 2016 we opened in Geneva. Our second studio brought new clients, new materials, and a colder northern light that we found beautiful. Today we work across Italy and Switzerland — residential commissions, private hotels, and the occasional heritage restoration.

We keep the team small. Fifteen people is the right size — enough to take on difficult work, small enough that nothing passes without being seen by someone who cares.

Our Values

Six Principles We Live By.

We have never written a mission statement. Instead, we keep six principles on the wall of the Milan atelier. They guide every decision — from the first client meeting to the final light check.

01

Restraint

We subtract before we add. The most powerful element in a room is often the one we chose not to include.

02

Craft

Every surface is touched by someone who cares. We work with artisans, not manufacturers. The difference is felt, not seen.

03

Patience

Good interiors take time. We accept eight commissions a year — never more. That limit is not a constraint. It is how we stay good.

04

Precision

A millimeter out of alignment disturbs a room for years. We measure twice. And then once more — because precision is a form of respect.

05

Dialogue

We listen first. The client's life is the brief. Our job is to translate it into space — not to impose a signature, but to reveal a home.

06

Longevity

We design for decades. Not for the photograph — for the morning after, ten years hence, when the room still feels exactly right.

Our Journey

Twelve Years Of Quiet Work.

We do not measure our history by awards or press coverage. We measure it by the rooms we have made and the silence inside them when they are finally finished.

2014
Milan — Italy

The Studio Opens

Elena Conti founded Orenda on Via Manzoni in Milan. Our very first commission is Villa Serenoa at Lake Como: one room, one drawing table.

Geneva Atelier

The Geneva studio opens on Rue du Rhône. We take our first hospitality commission Hôtel du Lac, Montreux. A colder light, a welcome addition.

2018
Rome — Italy

Casa Bellini & Domus

Casa Bellini, Rome, is featured in Domus magazine. The studio team grows to eight members now. We are still remaining quite quiet about it.

Palazzo Nero

Our largest commission to date, Palazzo Nero, Rome, is completed. A complex heritage conversion that took three years and changed everyone.

Studio Altura

Studio Altura wins the Design Excellence Award for Interior Design Italy. Five years without a mediocre commission. We frame it, not hang it.

Heritage & 41

Partnership with Swiss Heritage yields three restoration commissions. Our 41st interior is completed. We mark it quietly, the right way.
